For over 130 years, S. Y. Wilson & Company has been a cornerstone of the Arlington community. Founded by Samuel Young Wilson in 1893, our store has stood as a symbol of tradition, quality, and family legacy.

Originally established after Mr. Wilson's early career in the mercantile trade and education at Leddins Business College in Memphis, S. Y. Wilson & Co. began as a large frame store and transitioned to the now-iconic two-story brick building in 1913. Designed with care and craftsmanship, the structure features original pine flooring, metal ceilings, and custom woodwork that reflect a bygone era of American commerce.

Through five generations, the Wilson family has faithfully served the town—offering quality merchandise, genuine service, and a commitment to the needs of the local community. From cotton ginning to dry goods, the store has evolved with time while preserving its roots.

In 1993, ownership passed to Susan Wilson Triplett, continuing the proud tradition under her leadership as a sole proprietor. The store remains a family-run operation where legacy and customer service still matter.

A New Chapter: 2013 – Present

In 2013, S. Y. Wilson & Company entered a dynamic new chapter under the ownership of new local stewards who recognized the store’s historic value and potential for modern growth. With a deep respect for the legacy built by the Wilson family, the store was thoughtfully reimagined as a premium lifestyle destination.

Blending timeless Southern charm with contemporary style, the store now features a curated selection of men’s and women’s apparel, outdoor gear, footwear, accessories, and gifts. Housed in the original 1913 building, the space combines historic character with fresh design, creating a shopping experience unlike any other in the region.
